Sports Performance and Sports Injury

When a sports person, professional or otherwise, receives an injury during training or play, most people understand that the person will need time to recover from the physical trauma of that injury. Physical recovery from a sports injury may need months or even years of medical intervention, physiotherapy and massage therapy, all of which are invaluable to the sports person in order for them to heal physically.

 

Emotional trauma and sports injury

 

It is lesser known, however, that very often a sports person experiences an emotional injury or trauma along with the obvious physical effects of the injury; interestingly, the injured sports person may not even be fully aware of this emotional trauma themselves. It stands to reason that after any type of injury or accident there are emotional scars that also need healing – scar tissue can form emotionally just as it does physically around an old wound or injury. It may be invisible to the eye but we know it is still there – affecting us in some way and in the case of sports people, affecting their sporting performance.

 

When a person receives a physical injury, an emotional injury or wound may also form and attach itself to the memory of that injury. This emotional wound can affect the sports person’s confidence and they may hold on to an unconscious (or conscious) fear of injuring themselves once again in the same place. The overall result of the negative emotions attached to the emotional injury can lead to impaired sports performance.

 

Any type of injury, be it serious or less serious, can affect sports form when it affects a person’s psyche. Negative emotions become attached to the memory of the injury and are internalised affecting the person on several levels. In order to continue reaching their desired sporting goals a sports person needs to focus fully on their game; focussing on the injury, or the fear of further injury, consciously or unconsciously, can reduce sports performance radically.

 

Enhancing sports performance with the Mace Energy Method

 

For this reason, sports men and women are turning to the Mace Energy Method (MEM) in order to improve their sports performance. MEM allows a person to swiftly find and remove any emotional trauma resulting from a sports injury that has been buried within that person’s psyche. Using MEM to enhance sports performance can help a person to regain their confidence, as the invisible barriers that have been attached to their physical injury are eliminated permanently. That person is once again able to resume their sporting activity with confidence and clear focus, and without being held back by the negative, often unconscious, emotions that were stopping them from achieving their full sporting potential.
